In this introductory course, we will explore how governments in North and South America still limit and deny access to reproductive health and rights to women. We will identify the different strategies used and some of the current policies that target women’s bodies. We will analyze the main notions of sexual and reproductive health, within a feminist and social justice framework. That will allow us to deepen our knowledge of the social structures that target women’s bodies in contemporary times, with a special focus on forced sterilization and abortion. Moreover, we will have the opportunity to discuss case studies regarding access to reproductive health and justice.
