This hands-on photography class is intended to help the amateur photographer “up their game” when travelling abroad or enjoying nature closer to home. Participants will learn techniques for creating better landscape and wildlife photographs. The instructor will give numerous tips and tricks for close-up macro photography. A focus on travel photography will set you up to document your next great adventure. This will include learning how to compose and frame your photos in a dynamic and interesting way, the proper camera settings for candid photos, storytelling via camera angles, lens selection and so much more. Participants should have an advanced point-and-shoot camera at a minimum. DSLR or mirrorless cameras are best suited for this class. No cell phones please.
Instructor: Chris Stambaugh
Chris Stambaugh graduated from the NAIT photography program in 1989, opening his own business in 1990. An industry leader and one of Edmonton’s top ranked photographers, Chris has served as president of the Alberta Professional Photographers Association and the Professional Photographers of Canada. He was also Team Canada’s captain for the World Photographic Cup in 2017-2018. Accredited six times in various photography specialties, Chris has earned the Master of Photographic Arts designation from the Professional Photographers of Canada and an honorary fellowship in the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the United Kingdom. His work has been recognized worldwide and has won numerous awards for individual images. A five-time finalist for Alberta Portrait Photographer of the Year and a finalist for Canadian Photographer of the Year, Chris has won the award for “best wedding album” in Canada twice. Chris is an instructor at the Burwell School of Photography.
