Ethics and Personality
– How do we get from who we are to what we become?
– How do we decide which moral principles to follow and which to let slide a little?
– What factors influence our decisions along the way?
We will consider these factors all the way from brain anomalies to inborn, ‘hard-wired’ personality characteristics, to familial and societal imprinting and beyond.
In our group discussions, we will share insights and examples developed out of our own life experiences about how to live -or not live – an ethical life.

Dr. Emma Pivato created and taught interdisciplinary graduate courses between philosophy and psychology at Athabasca University for 10 years, including a course entitled Personality Structure and Moral Development. She also worked for 20 years as a clinical psychologist focused primarily on assessment, neuropsychology and cluster B personality disorders.
